Resignations

DaimlerChrysler AG announced the resignation of its chief executive Juergen Schrempp at the end of the year. Dieter Zetsche, currently head of the Chrysler Group, will replace him.

DaimlerChrysler AG: Eckhard Cordes, head of the Mercedes-Benz Passenger Car Division resigned from the company on August 31, after spending less than a year in the position. Zetzche adds head the Mercedes Car Group to his increasing portfolio.

Avis southern Africa: Grenville Wilson, the chief executive of the car rental and fleet management company, resigned last month after concluding talks with Barloworld, who had last year taken over the company.

Appointments

DaimlerChrysler SA: Richard Sloman has been appointed media manager for the Mercedes Passenger Car division incorporating Chrysler, Jeep and Dodge.

General Motors SA has announced the appointment of Zureen Theunissen to the position of industrial engineering manager at its Kempston Road plant. Glenn Carreathers has been promoted to the position of production procurement manager for interior and exterior components. Louis Maritz is now the manager of supplier quality and development in the procurement and engineering division.

Subaru SA: Grant Fredericks has been appointed the dealer principal of the upgraded Cape Town outlet at Culemborg, with a satellite sales and service facility in Tygerberg.

BMW SA: Guy Kilfoil has been appointed Automotive Communications Manager for BMW and Mini.

Fiat Auto SA: Clynton Yon has been appointed Public relations manager for the Alfa Romeo and Fiat brands.

Volvo Car Corporation: Frederik Arp replaces Hans-Olov Olsson as president and chief executive at Volvo Cars AG. He had previously held the position of president and chief executive of Swedish company Trelleborg AB. Olsson becomes chairman of the Volvo Car Corporation board.
