JOBURG INTERNATIONAL MOTOR SHOW ANNOUNCED

NAAMSA president Dr Johan van Zyl has announced that the Association will stage an International Motor Show in Johannesburg from October 30 to November 9 2008.

MOTOR INDUSTRY TAKES HEAVY STRAIN

All facets of the South African motor industry have taken strain during the first half of 2007. One of the biggest blunders came with the introduction of e-NaTIS.

COMMERCIAL VEHICLE SALES

Strong commercial vehicle sales have softened the blow to the total new vehicle market for the first half of 2007.

EXPORTS FROM SA ONLY MARGINALLY UP ON 2006

Global exports of built-up vehicles from South Africa for the first six months of 2007 totalled 81 218 units, which was less than 1 per cent (567 units) above the figure for the first half of last year.

COMPONENT MANUFACTURERS FACE NEW CHALLENGES

NAACAM executive director Roger Pitot says local automotive component makers have been severely affected by the slowdown in South Africa’s vehicle production and that consumers will ultimately pay the price for the decline.
